The Government That Governs Least, Governs Best

A farmer was herding his flock in a remote pasture when suddenly a brand-new BMW advanced out of a dust cloud. The driver, a young man in a Brioni suit, Gucci shoes, Dolce and Gabbana sunglasses and Italian silk tie, leaned out the window and said to the farmer, “If I tell you exactly how many sheep you have in your flock, will you give me one?”

The farmer looked at the obvious yuppie, then looked at his peacefully-grazing flock and calmly answered, “Sure.”

The yuppie parked his car, whipped out his IBM Thinkpad and connected it to a cell phone, then he surfed to a NASA page on the Internet where he called up a GPS satellite navigation system, scanned the area, and then opened up a database and an Excel spreadsheet with complex formulas. He sent an e-mail on his Blackberry and, after a few minutes, received a response. Finally, he printed out a 150 page report on his hi- tech, miniaturized printer then turned to the farmer and said, “You have exactly 1,586 sheep.”

“That is correct,” said the farmer. “Go ahead and take one of the sheep.”

The young man selected the animal nearest him and the farmer looked on in incredulous amusement as the young man stuffed it into the trunk of his car.

Then the farmer said, “Hey, if I can tell you exactly what your job title is, will you give me back my animal?”

The young man thought about it for a second and then said, “Okay, why not?”

“You’re a United States Congressman,” said the farmer.

“Wow! That’s correct,” said the yuppie, “but how did you guess?”

“No guessing required.” answered the farmer. “You showed up here, even though nobody called you; you want to get paid for an answer I already knew, to a question I never asked. You tried to show me how much smarter you are than I am; and you don’t know a thing about sheep. Now give me back my dog!”

Yes, indeed. It’s a joke. A really funny joke. The current batch of inmates attempting to run the institution known as the government of the United States is also a joke. But NOT a funny one.

By now, all the Americans the Liberals duped into voting for them have begun to awaken to the carnage those Leftist-Marxist-Communist-Totalitarians have managed to cause. The carnage is so vast, so extensive, that attempts to conceal it are no longer effective.

When the 23% of Americans who were once gainfully employed no longer have a job, they have time to notice that governmental employees have jobs and that the number of those jobs has grown exponentially over the last decade. Not only that, but the salaries for these governmental employees, which used to be less than one could expect to earn in the private sector, are now, at a minimum, $30,000.00 more per year and come complete with benefits like cars, lavish expense accounts, private aircraft at their disposal and other benefits that are not available to the people who are taxed to pay for the luxurious lifestyles of our government employees.

The government that was once “of the people, by the people and for the people” has become instead a onerous and elitist burden ON the people.

According to USA Today the number of federal workers earning six-figure salaries has skyrocketed during our current recession.

  • Federal employees making salaries of $100,000 or more jumped from 14% to 19% of civil servants during the recession’s first 18 months — and that’s before overtime pay and bonuses are counted.
  • The highest-paid federal employees are doing best of all on salary increases. Defense Department civilian employees earning $150,000 or more increased from 1,868 in December 2007 to 10,100 in June 2009, the most recent figure available.
  • When the recession started, the Transportation Department had only one person earning a salary of $170,000 or more. Eighteen months later, 1,690 employees had salaries above $170,000.
  • The trend to six-figure salaries is occurring throughout the federal government, in agencies big and small, high-tech and low-tech. The primary cause: substantial pay raises and new salary rules.
  • The growth in six-figure salaries has pushed the average federal worker’s pay to $71,206, compared with $40,331 in the private sector.

The private sector has not grown in the last ten years. Only the public sector has been increasing in size. And now Obama and his cronies have undertaken to completely destroy the private sector. These “visionaries” have the total destruction of the United States economy in their sights and they aren’t shifting their gaze.

However, while “you can fool some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, you can’t fool all of the people all of the time.” And as we just pointed out, joblessness and sleepless nights spent wondering how mortgage and loan payments can be made and children can be fed are giving Americans time to look at what Washington D.C. is actually doing. It isn’t a pretty sight. And more and more of us are realizing that we don’t really want to pay for a government with absolutely no concept of what a representative democracy should look and act like.

So, of course, the Media Elite are busy trying to stamp out the fires of resentment burning in the hearts of the vast majority of Americans by whining, in their most winsome tones, about “how helpful government can be” and about how we should “let government get on with solving all our problems.”

Oh, of course! Government is absolutely filled with “helpful” people and ideas. They “help” themselves to all the money they can steal and extort by enacting “ideas” to enslave us. And they want us to be grateful that they are there because, we, of course, are incapable of solving our own problems.

Well, the American public has a news flash for those elitist power-brokers and we are delivering it every chance we get: We are more than capable of solving our own problems. And when we rid ourselves of each and everyone of you come November 2010, the biggest problem we have will be solved.

Hasta la vista, Liberal-Leftists!
