Sic Semper Tyrannes — Thus Always To Tyrants

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. That to secure these rights, governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed. That whenever any form of government becomes destructive to these ends, it is the right of the people to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their safety and happiness. . . . But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such government, and to provide new guards for their future security.

The Declaration of Independence makes VERY interesting reading these days. We had to memorize it when we were schoolchildren. That’s how long ago that was. Children don’t even memorize their own phone numbers any more. But we grew up in what seems now like the Golden Age of America.

Back then, we thought those 253 Christian men who founded this country had established America as the Land of the Free in perpetuity. We thought that all we had to do was to build upon what our Founding Fathers had started and what our great-grandfathers and grandfathers and fathers had protected even at the cost of their own lives. We never really expected to have to defend our 200-year-old heritage of a Christian liberty-loving country from usurpers and certainly NOT FROM INTERNAL USURPERS!

After all, we had the RULE OF LAW right here in the good ol’ USA. And NOBODY WAS ABOVE THE LAW. Or so we thought.

In the 1960s we were concentrating on acquiring the education and credentials we believed we needed to become responsible contributing members of our society. We were so focused on what we had to do, we didn’t notice that many of the societal ills alarming our parents — things like making irresponsibility a way of life that didn’t end with the irresponsible parties living in gutters somewhere and deservedly so, escalating drug use, rampant sexual promiscuity, skyrocketing divorce rate, public and tax-dollar support for the wholesale murder of unborn babies and the ever-increasing marginalizing and silencing of Christians — were NOT actually being dealt with in a manner consistent with our beliefs about our country, our countrymen and our laws.

During our years as undergrads, the hippies had come to inhabit our campus just as they inhabited other campuses around the country. We DID notice the time these “gentle peace-loving people” blew up the Naval ROTC building, killing one person. “That person wasn’t supposed to be there” was the excuse made. We are pretty sure the casualty was unaware of that. Unhappily, no one was ever brought to justice for that death. We thought that was strange. We also thought it odd that the media were not interested in that death at the hands of the hippies. Until then, we thought that ANY American life was valuable and valued by EVERY OTHER AMERICAN.

We steered clear of the hippies as much as we could and that was fairly easy since they were far more interested in maintaining a chemically-altered mental state than in attending classes. And besides, they had decided that personal hygiene was unworthy of their time and effort so our noses alone served as advance warning systems. We were thus able to avoid the confrontation they had with the National Guard in which one of the drug-crazed hippies chose to impale a body part on a Guardsman’s bayonet. We have to admit that we were surprised when one of their number was forward thinking enough to shellac over the few drops of blood on the concrete in an attempt to preserve it for posterity. Hippies were NEVER known for planning for the future. And in truth, it made no difference. The shellac was worn away long before we finished graduate school. So, maybe the reason hippies didn’t plan for the future is because they weren’t any good at it.

However, no matter how hard we tried to mind our own business all the while believing the folks who were running this country would take care of the lunatic fringe infesting our campus, we were NOT fortunate enough to be completely unaffected. We clearly remember the time we were attempting to attend a class which had been meeting all semester long in a building that one day unexpectedly became the staging grounds for a protest.

We entered the building and abruptly came face-to-face with a mob of stinky, angry, entitled individuals. The hippies refused to let us pass, demanding instead that we join their protest. We politely refused. Our parents had ALWAYS emphasized manners. Our church did, too. We were to speak clearly but civilly at all times. The mob in front of us apparently had never had the benefit of parents or a church. They screamed at us, telling us that we were not allowed an opinion that differed from theirs. THEY INSISTED THAT WE HAD NO CHOICE BUT TO JOIN THEM IN THEIR MARCH. IT WAS THEIR WAY OR NO WAY AT ALL, AS FAR AS THEY WERE CONCERNED.

Our numbers included an off-side defensive tackle and an equally heavy but slightly shorter man who was a Karate black-belt. They stepped between us and the enraged hippies. One of the MANY disadvantages of abusing one’s brain with drugs is that it doesn’t allow the brain to do its primary job — that of making judgments that allow one to continue to live and do well. One hippie shoved the tackle and quickly found himself slumped in a dazed heap against the wall on the other side of the wide hall. The hippie who took a swipe at the black-belt was subsequently much too busy attempting to deal with the bloody geyser that had replaced his nose to take any other swings. We moved peacefully on to class and the protest apparently had disbanded by the time our class was over.

Hippies haven’t actually disappeared from the American scene. Now, they are known as liberals or progressives. They are now and always have been a small minority, fewer than 20% of our population. They have NO RESPECT FOR THE LAW and they are cowardly. As a direct result, they work in mobs. Mob rule was invented by liberals.

They learned to bathe and to get regular haircuts again so they looked more like Americans. Other than that, they are unchanged. And their agenda remains unchanged, as well. They want unlimited access to drugs even when it means drug lords and their faithful murderous henchmen are amassing at our southern border and bringing death and destruction in a number of ways to America’s children and to America’s streets, never mind what they are doing to Mexico and innocent Mexicans.

Liberals insist that they not be held accountable for anything they do or fail to do. Responsibility is a thing of the past. Today everyone gets a free pass with the exception of the American taxpayer who must pay. After all, SOMEBODY MUST PAY. Wall Street and bankers around the world, not to mention the American politcal elite, are reimbursed and rewarded with money the liberals take from American taxpayers. And, of course, they are coming for more. You don’t really think that they put the IRS in charge of Obamacare just for no reason, do you?

Liberals are still no better than they ever were at planning for the future. They are all about instant gratification and meeting their own short-term desires no matter the expense to others. And if it doesn’t work out — which is the inevitable result of NEVER planning for the future — then they always have someone ready to blame. Hint: it’s NEVER themselves.

Since the 1960s, the liberals have moved into every area of American life, intent on making their “voice” heard. Their “voice” is now, and always has been, loud strident and implacable. Their voice is the voice of a tyrant. It’s their way or no way at all.

Our Founding Fathers knew how to deal effectively with tyrants. They even left us a road map called The Declaration of Independence. That founding document speaks clearly of our rights and of our responsibilities as Americans. It says it is our right and it is our duty to dispose of tyrants. It is, in fact, the only thing that works. They don’t understand English. And the only thing they know about the Declaration and the Constitution is that they must be done away with because those documents tell us how to deal with the despots now governing the United States against the will of the people.

Obama and his henchmen know they are “governing against the will of the people.” That’s why Obama is now going around America trying to “sell” us on the new “law of the land,” Obamacare. The people said no. Obama and our imperial congress ignored the will of the governed. So now they have no right to govern. And we have the right and the responsibility to throw off this unlawful government. Sic Semper Tyrannes.
